Other people have already explained each one, but to sum it up, the chain from best to worst choice in this case would be IMAX 3D > PRIME 3D > RealD 3D
I can't speak as to Prime 3D, but Real 3D just means its one one of the standard screens. IMAX 3D is on a larger screen.
You are watching: What is the difference between imax 3d and regular 3d
It may just be my theater, but Real 3D seems to look a little too dark for me, whereas IMAX 3D seems to have the proper amount of brightness.
This is often because theaters forget to properly adjust the brightness for RealD 3D, as the auditoriums are often used for 2D shows as well. IMAX, as a strictly licensed and controlled product, gets correctly adjusted most of the time.
Agree with you on that, never seen PRIME 3D before and trying to find out if that's like imax or real 3D.
prime i think tends to be between the size of an imax screen but larger than a regular screen and they have the extra big chairs where the legs go up and it tilts back a little
Also to note, IMAX 3d and real3d uses different 3d glasses, make sure you are given the right ones when you go otherwise it'll be like you're not wearing any glasses. Real3d usually are the disposable glasses and IMAX are the reusable ones which are in the cages.
Real3D is the company the makes pretty much all the 3D equipment for theaters. It's just a brand and means traditional 3D.
Prime is an AMC thing that includes deluxe surround sound, reclining seats, etc. Then the IMAX is the IMAX branded large format projection. It's typically more vibrant as a result.
there are basically 2 types of 3 d projectors used when it comes to PVR. the normal 3 d goes in with green-cyan combination of the filters and you can see the movie without the glasses but not distinctly. also the quality of the 3d effecta is not that clear ar sometimes go blurr. the prime 3d uses dynamic filters that change from time to time according to movie scene which makes the 3d movie more lively and more detailed. also if you remove the 3d glasses you can see the movie clearly. so thats why they charge more for prime 3d.!!
