Star Wars: The Weirdest Thing About Yoda Is... His Feet!? Yoda"s feet are the weirdest thing about him, as he appears to have an ever-changing number of toes throughout the series.

Yoda is no doubt one of the quirkiest characters in the Star Wars universe. His odd attributes include his gruff voice, his syntax, his comical demeanor, his famous one-liners and his big, pointy ears. And yet, despite Yoda having those peculiar attributes, none of them is weirder than ... his feet.

They"re quite a conundrum. While his species is known to have tridactyl hands and feet (meaning three fingers on each hand and three toes on each foot), the number of toes Yoda has changes from movie to movie. His tridactyl hands remain consistent throughout the series, but his feet are ... let"s go with unpredictable.

In The Phantom Menace and The Clone Wars film, Yoda has his tridactyl three toes, yet in Revenge of the Sith, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, he appears to have grown a mysterious fourth toe. What"s weirder is that the promotional images for Yoda"s character in Revenge of the Sith featured him with three toes, which differed from the actual movie where he had four. Hasbro, the toy company, made the mysterious feet even more confusing, producing Yoda action figures with three, four and even five toes.

The subtraction of toes between Return of the Jedi and The Phantom Menace could easily be explained by CGI or other advancements in the movie business that happened during the nearly two decades between the movies. However, a fan with the username Kao Pyro proposed the idea on Wookieepedia that Yoda"s species grows a fourth toe in their final stages of life in order to inherit better balance and stability to counter their physically declining bodies. The fan argues that since the movies are canon "we must consider Yoda"s biology...is canon. At that point, we...come up with the explanation that the extra toe grew."

Yoda"s weird idiosyncrasies are what make him so beloved by fans and recognizable worldwide. Though they easily go unnoticed, the Jedi Master"s ever - changing feet are most certainly the most peculiar thing about him. The shifting toe count could simply be due to technological advancements or possibly an evolution in his species. Whatever the case may be, it"s definitely weird.
